Irish Myths & Tales

The great mythological and legendary cycles of Ireland pre-date the arrival of Christianity to that country, bringing the listener into undiscovered lands of the imagination.

From the earliest myths of the Tuatha de Danann to the heroic tales of Cú Cullain and Finn MacCumhail these stories reveal the deep history of Ireland's mythic imagination.

In more recent times, the storytelling traditions of Ireland have been kept alive by shanachies and common folk, for whom storytelling was and is a vital aspect of community life.

When programming Irish tales, I enjoy combining the ancient and traditional with the more recent and whimsical.
