Tales from Shakespeare

Since 2001 I have worked as an outreach artist for Shakespeare on the Sound, based in Rowayton, CT.

Hearing Shakespeare's plots as stories, younger audiences form strong connections to the characters and are then motivated to explore the language of the plays with confidence and delight.

School visits introducing Shakespeare take the form of a conversation with students, with the plots of several plays retold in succession.  Alternatively, a single play may be discussed in detail.

We explore the poetry and power of Shakespeare's language, rhythm, description, and metaphor.

Discussions of Shakespeare draw from the following plays.  Alternatively, a program may feature an exploration of one play in depth.

Hamlet

Romeo & Juliet

The Winter's Tale

Henry V

The Comedy of Errors

As You Like It

The Tempest

Julius Ceasar

A Midsummer Nights Dream
Cymbeline
Macbeth
The Merchant of Venice
