Storytelling is a powerful tool for
engaging young minds.

Before visiting a school I provide each teacher with information
about using folktales and storytelling in the classroom, as well
as suggested follow up activities across curricula.

In a Language Arts classroom, storytelling promotes engaged
reading and expressive writing. Rich, detailed language helps
students visualize the stories they hear. In follow-up writing,
students express a personal response to the story.

In Social Studies classrooms students think critically about
stories in the context of their original cultures.
